Sixth Form Religious Studies

The CCEA Religious Studies specification is offered at both AS and A2 Level. 

AS Level (Year 13)

Students are allocated 12 periods over two weeks. The units taught are:

• AS 2 An Introduction to the Acts of the Apostles 
• AS 4 The Christian Church in the Roman Empire: Beginnings, Expansion and External Pressure

Examples of other aspects of Human Experience are incorporated throughout both units.
There is an external exam for each unit, lasting 1 hour 20 minutes. 

A2 Level (Year 14)

Students are allocated 12 periods over two weeks. The units taught are:

• A2 2 A Study of Acts, Galatians & 1 Corinthians
• A2 4 The Development of the Christian Church in the Roman Empire to AD 325

Synoptic themes are:

• Religious Controversy
• Suffering

There is an external exam for each unit, lasting 2 hours and includes a synoptic question.
