Our school uniform policy, rules and expectations have been designed to be simple, fair and reasonable to parents/carers, students and teaching staff alike.

All students are required to wear regulation and necessary school uniform when attending school, representing the school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours unless special permission is granted.

All teaching staff are expected to and have been instructed to reinforce/enforce the school uniform policy and ensure compliance at all times during the school day, whilst students are on school grounds or premises.

A school uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of our school and sets an appropriate tone and appearance. The wearing of our school’s uniform can instil a sense of pride, supports positive behaviour and discipline, encourages a sense of identity and belonging with the school and each other. Furthermore it shows support for our school, ensures students of all races and backgrounds feel welcome, prevents distractions in lessons, protects children from social/peer pressures to dress in a particular way, makes students feel equal, nurtures cohesion and promotes good relations between different groups of students. School uniform also supports effective teaching and learning as well being practical, smart and has been designed with value for money and health and safety in mind.

We strongly believe that parents have a duty to send their children to school correctly dressed and ready for their daily schoolwork. We look for and welcome full parental support in this regard and request that all items of school uniform be clean, presentable and in a good state of repair for the start of the school day.

We have set the following standards for our students:


  • Black blazer with school badge;
  • Black V-necked pullover;
  • White shirt;
  • School tie;
  • Black trousers;
  • Dark socks;
  • Black outdoor shoes.

  • black knee socks not slouch socks (thick black tights may be worn in cold weather);

  • Heels must be under 4 cms in height for safety reasons.

Please also note:

  • Pupils in Years 11 and 12 must have a senior tie and senior badge;
  • Hair must be of reasonable length and style (Grade 1 is too short);
  • No extreme hair colour or bleaching of hair will be permitted;
  • Training shoes are NOT part of the uniform and should only be worn for Physical Education;
  • The Senior Management of the school will use their discretion as to what constitutes “extreme”.

OUTDOOR CLOTHING (Boys and Girls):

  • School Fleece (available from local suppliers)
  • Dark Raincoat
  • Dark Anorak
  • School Scarves may be purchased from local suppliers.


  • One signet ring only may be worn.
  • Girls with pierced ears may wear one stud in each ear lobe.
  • Earrings and make-up are not permitted.
