Pictured are the students who helped lead a workshop at the 23rd Euroclio Conference, a Conference where 150 History Educators from all over Europe came to Belfast to investigate and discuss topics relating to effective and innovative History teaching.

Senior students, Melissa Murphy, Thomas Steele, Geoffrey McCracken and Jennifer Irwin, showcased the work of the NASUWT’s Civic Voices Oral History project, where students interview interviewees who have a significant story to tell about Civic Activism in the Northern Ireland context. The students helped the teachers prepare and carry out the interview.

Interviewed for this workshop were Mr Tom Hartley, Mr Kenneth Donaldson and Mr Terri Hooley.

Well done everyone who entered.

MHS WORLD BOOK DAY 2016 CELEBRATIONS

World Book Day 2016

Thanks to all the Year 8 pupils who took part in our Readathon in support of the Cancer Fund for Children.  Pupils also enjoyed a trip to the Town Library, a Big Book Quiz, and a Storytelling session. Year 8 and 9 pupils also enjoyed treats from the Mad Hatter and Alice to celebrate World Book Day.  The tea party was held in the school Library at lunchtime. A BIG thank you is also conveyed to our Year 10 pupils who helped out.

YEAR 11 & 12 GCSE PERFORMING ARTS SHOWCASE

Tuesday, 1 March saw the fantastic GCSE Performing Arts Showcase of our Year 11 and 12 pupils.  The Single Award pupils performed on the given theme "We are such stuff as dreams are made on" whilst the Double Award pupils performed a piece on the theme "Gothic Traditions".  Rehearsals had been intensive leading up to the big night and all the hard work paid off as pupils performed to an excellent standard entertaining their audience and achieving very pleasing marks towards their final GCSE grades.  Well done to all involved!

SUCCESS FOR U12 RUGBY SQUAD

Congratulations to our Under 12 Rugby Squad who played magnificently in the North West's 10's Tournament at Coleraine and qualified for the final tournament in Lurgan.  They played three games narrowly loosing the first by one try to a vastly experienced Ballymoney team then defeating Lisneal and Coleraine.  Our Try scorers were Louis and Yiayan with one each.  Joshua with three and Rohan with an amazing five!  All Squad members played their hearts out and for a few it was their first competitive games - their first of many!
