The School held their Annual Prize Distribution on Thursday, 28 September to recognise and celebrate the successes of our pupils over the last year. The guest speaker was Mr Paul Charles who is a past pupil of the school. Paul who lives in London and has a facinating career as a music promoter and agent, supporting and representing many well known national and international stars including Van Morrison, Rory Gallagher, Don McLean and Jackson Brown among many others.
Pictured are the students who helped lead a workshop at the 23rd Euroclio Conference, a Conference where 150 History Educators from all over Europe came to Belfast to investigate and discuss topics relating to effective and innovative History teaching.
Senior students, Melissa Murphy, Thomas Steele, Geoffrey McCracken and Jennifer Irwin, showcased the work of the NASUWT’s Civic Voices Oral History project, where students interview interviewees who have a significant story to tell about Civic Activism in the Northern Ireland context. The students helped the teachers prepare and carry out the interview.
Interviewed for this workshop were Mr Tom Hartley, Mr Kenneth Donaldson and Mr Terri Hooley.
Year 9 pupils recently enjoyed a visit from Bernie Mullan, a local journalist from the Verbal Arts Centre which was part of the Mid-Ulster Council's Project on Seamus Heaney.
Pictured are Year 8 winners of the recent Book Fair Competition, who are proudly showing off their winning bookmarks. This year the Scholastic Book Fair sales amounted to £651.50 which meant we made an amazing £325 of commission to spend on new books for the Library. Pop in soon to check our latest additions.
Well done everyone who entered.
