MHS HOST YOUNG MEN'S HEALTH EVENT

Facilitors

Year 13 boys from the other Post Primary Schools in the town attended a Young Men’s event centred around Body Image and Mental Health Awareness in Magherafelt High School recently.

Talks were given by Start 360 on the dangers of using Performance Enhancing Drugs and from the Lawrence Trust on Body Image and raising awareness around the issue of male eating disorders.  Mr Billy Dixon concluded the morning with a motivational talk on how young men should aim high and have confidence in how they present themselves.

The young men had time to chat to the speakers, visit stands and have a healthy snack during the course of the day. Thanks goes to the Public Health Agency for providing funding for the event through the Networks Involving Communities in Health (NICHI) Project . Also thanks to Ann Marie McStocker from the NICHI project and Shaun McCormick from the Young Men's Health project in the Northern Area Education Authority who helped facilitate the event.
