VICTORIOUS MHS U13 AND U16 GIRLS' HOCKEY TEAMS
On Tuesday 3rd November 2015 The U13 and U16 Girls Hockey Teams won both their matches against Sperrin Integrated College.
The U13s won 2-1 with both goals being scored by Abbie Lawrance. This was their first full 11 a-side match of the season. The girls played well against a hardworking Sperrin side. Some excellent play and teamwork paid off as the girls were drawing 1-1 at half time. After a team talk the girls took to the pitch even more determined to win and scored quickly to take the lead which they defended until full time.
Attacking Player of the match – Abbie Lawrance
Defending Player of the match – Anna Bruce
The U16s won 3-1 with goals being scored by Rebecca McKeown, Amy Prott and Megan Porter. Despite missing 4 very influential players from the regular side the girls were determined to maintain their unbeaten run against Sperrin. The score at half time was 2-1 but the girls knew they had more to give, so they fought on putting the Sperrin defence under pressure. A penalty corner was awarded to us in the final minute of the match. The girls took their positions for the penalty corner knowing this was their last chance to increase their lead. A fantastic strike from Megan Porter sealed the victory.
