MHS STUDENT ADAM PARKE REFLECTS ON HIS FAMILY CONNECTIONS OF 'THE GREAT WAR'

Year 10 Student Adam Parke pictured with his WW1 Bayonet and two Widow's Pennies of Robert Park and John Park, great-uncle's of Adam.  These Pennies or Memorial Plaques were issued after the First World War to the next of kin of all British and Empire Service Personnel who were killed as a result of the War.

One of the original Memorial Plaques was lost for 50-60 years, but fortuitously Adam's grandfather, Jack John Parke was reunited with it at a World War One memorabila day where he managed to persuade the exhibitor to sell it back to him.

This account is part of the School's 100th year commemoration events where students have been bringing in stories of their relatives.
