The MHS Girls Rugby team continues to impress, this time at the home of Belfast Harlequins RFC. Competing against much more experienced teams from St Rose's and Victoria College, yet again the girls acquitted themselves with aplomb!

They won their first match after going a try down against a well-drilled St. Roses 'A' team. With this win under their belt, and a little more spring in their step, they progressed to a comfortable win over the St Roses B team 4-0, completely dominating the play in the process.  The third match in their section against an excellent Victoria College Belfast team proved more difficult. The girls played very well but were unlucky to lose 2-0 .

This allowed them to progress against Victoria again in the final. A gritty first-half performance saw the Magherafelt girls go two tries to nil up but unfortunately Victoria fought back to level it a two tries a piece.

Showing characteristic resolve, the girls yet again took the lead with a well-taken try to go three tries to two up with only seconds left on the clock. The ref had the whistle in his mouth to signal the end of the game but he could blow, the Victoria girls went over in the corner, despite a clear tag from Roberta McDriscoll. This left both teams tied at three tries a piece and honours shared. Yet again Roberta McMaster proved to be the inspiration behind a excellent team. Special mention must also go to last minute recruits Leah Morton who bagged a try and Michaela Millar who bagged a brace of tries.

With a few more fixtures in the pipeline let's hope the girls can maintain this form!

Well done indeed!
