You could be forgiven for describing a group of Magherafelt High School year 10 students as poachers turned gamekeepers fthis week, after their link-up with their American counterparts at El Molino High California.

A group of year 10 students have been fortunate to have been chosen to present a LIVE TV programme from Springhill, in cooperation with the National Trust and the NEELB multimedia truck. The Year 10 students have been researching the history of Springhill as part of their studies. The students wanted to teach their American counterparts a little about their local history.

The live broadcast to 'El Moilno High School' (California), focussed on the links between Irish and American History and the colourful history of the Conyngham family and the Springhill building itself. The students were involved in the editing and pre-production of the programme.

This link-up brings to an end a long-standing relationship with El Molino HIgh who were conjoined in a scheme which swapped History teachers (Mr Grech- EL Molino High, Mr Denver Charles- Magherafelt High) for a term.
