Year 10 pupil Kai Elliott teaching pupils of 8A4 about his relatives Lance Corporal Matthew Hassin and Corporal Andrew Elliott affectionally known as Corporal Dardanelles.  His great Grandfathers who fought in World War One, in Gallipoli, The Somme, St. Quentin, Passchendaele and Ypres.  Lance Corporal Hassin received the Medal for Gallantry Service and both also acquired the Victory Medal at the end of the War.

Year 8 pupils had a fabulous time last week at the North Coast.

After nearly 30 years of teaching at MHS, Mr Gary Freeburn has decided to retire.

Along with all of the other Post-Primary Schools in Magherafelt, to allow a Magherafelt Learning Partnership (MLP) Staff Development Day to take place school will be closed to all pupils on Friday, 29 September 2017.  School will resume on Monday, 2 October 2017 as normal.  Click here to view the letter issued by the Principal to all pupils, parents and guardians.
