On Monday 7 November Home Economics teachers Mrs Hegarty and Mrs McGrath along with 31 GCSE Year 11 pupils took part in a cooking demonstration hosed by Patricia from the Livestock and Meat Commission (LMC).
We were able learn new knife skills, understand about the nutrients in food with a focus on iron, protein and zinc from Northern Irish Farm Assured Meat. We also had an opportunity to find the Food Standards Agency's new Eat Well Guide. The two dishes sampled were lamb Indian Curry and minced beef Wraps.
The Department looks forward to welcoming back the LMC for another cookery demonstration to Mrs McGrath's Occupational Studies Contemporary Cuisine to Year 12 pupils.
