Year 14 Students were completing their primary data collection on the impact of tourism in a sand dune ecosystem (psammosere). They were investigating changes in plant diversity, soil and climate, and also the impact of tourism and how it is being managed at Benone. This is an integral part of their A21 studies.
Year 13 Students recently attended a visit to the Magilligan Field Centre which invoved a visit to the Umbra Nature Reserve in order to collect data on plant succession as part of their AS3 studies.
Science Club starting today and every Wednesday all Years 8-10 very welcome.
Action MS Walks CEO Ann Walker, visited Magherafelt High School on Tuesday for a special awards presentation to thank the pupils for their tremendous efforts on behalf of people with Multiple Sclerosis. The pupils took part in a Walk for MS at Drum Manor Forest Park during activity week in June and raised a fantastic total of £3,200 in aid of Action MS Northern Ireland's Multiple Sclerosis Charity.
The pupils pictured with Mrs Ann Walker are the top sponsors, the majority of whom collected over £100 each.
Only just back to school and Miss Huey had these Year 12 pupils up the Mournes this week working towards their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award! Well done girls, great determination and hard work.

The 31 August saw the retirement of three long serving members of staff from the school.
